EMPIRE SETTLEMENT
IMMIGRATION URGED CONFERENCE RESOLUTIONS [ British Official Wireless.] RUGBY, Nov. 23. Resolutions passed at the Conference on Empire Development last month are being formally laid before the Prime Minister to-day by an influential deputation, headed by Lord Horne. One of these resolutions urges upon the Government the need to establish forthwith statutory authority, immune from changes of Government, with definite financial powers and charged with the whole time duty in co-operation with similar bodies in the Dominions to initiate and consider aid in carrying into effect schemes for the encouragement of all forms of useful Empire activities, immigration, and development upon adequately financed and properly supervised bases. The second resolution expresses the view that the time has arrived for ah early resumption of Empire migration, and urges the Government to invite representatives of the Dominion Governments to consider tht possibility of making early preparations for settlement and to indicate to the United Kingdom the Government’s readiness to give credit facilities for approved schemes.
