HITHER AND THITHER

Old People Entertained. Members of the senior Bible class of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church invited the intermediate class and members of the choir to accompany them to the Old People’s Home last Thursday when the inmates were entertained with an enjoyable programme and afterwards to supper. Items were given as follows: Songs, Misses Mavis Thompson and M. Allchurch, Messrs. Colin Sherriff, A. Mentor and Atkinson; ’cello solo, Mr. Bent; also choruses and part songs by the Bible classes and chair. Picture and Supper Party. On Saturday nignt a farewell party was given by friends for Miss M. Watson, who leaves this week for Auckland. After a picture party at the Regent Theatre, the guests motored to the home of Miss D. Gillwan, where they were entertained to a buffet supper and enjoyed games, competitions and dancing. The pa‘nvvay to the he use and the lawns were inuminated with gay-coloured Chinese lanterns. The guest of honour was presented with an autograpn book from ner Wanganui friends. The singing of “Auld Lang Syne” brought to a close a very happy evening. The invited*guests were: Misses M. Watson, B. Mayo, M. MeAdie, D. Gillman, D. Black, N. Bradeley, B. Johnson, J. Harper, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Scott, Messrs. R. Barber, J. Walton, M. Showan, C. Howard, J. Halligan, L. Gillman, A. Gammon, S. Laing, A. Lewis, G. Berryman, R. Spence, E. Dickson.
