RANGITIKEI ELECTORATE COMMITTEE
The first meeting of the newly constituted Rangitikei electorate committee was held in the Empire Hail, Marton, on Tuesday evening, when Mr. E. B. Gordon (chairman) presided over 80 delegates from every branch.
The chairman addressed the meeting on the work that was being carried out by headquarters, which information should prove very beneficial to the delegates to report to the members of their different branches.
The secretary (Mr. Arthur Way) read the report of the proceedings at the last divisional committee held at Wellington on Thursday, November 18, at which Mr. E. B. Gordon was elected to represent Otaki, Manawatu, Palmerston North and Rangitikei on the Dominion Council.
The secretary gave details of the membership of all the branches in the Rangitikei electorate, and also the financial statement. He also made a strong appeal to all branches to respond liberally to the request for funds for the Dominion Council It was decided to close nominations for candidates for the Rangitikei seat on Saturday, January 15, at Marton. A recommendation was carried that all branches elect their representatives on the election committee by January 8. A general discussion then took place on questions of great importance to the party. At the conclusion of the meeting the delegates were entertained at refreshments by the ladies of the Marton women s section.
A hearty vote of thanks to the ladies for their hospitality, and to the chairman for presiding, was carried by enthusiastic acclamation.
