ST. ANDREW’S DIAMOND JUBILEE REUNION
There was a large gathering at St. Andrew’s Church diamond jubilee reunion, held in the Waverley Town Hall on Monday evening. Rev. and Mrs. Ross, assisted by Miss H. On the walls were numerous old photographs of past and present members of St. Andrew’s Church, which were very interesting. The speakers for the evening were Rev. E. R. E. Roas (Presbyterian minister ol Waverley), Rev. Burnett (Patea, Moderator of the Taranaki Assemble), Rev. P. A. Stanley (vicar of St. Stephens Church, Waverley), Mr. W. G. Betton (chairman of the Patea County Council), Mr. W. Heginbotham (chairman of the Town Board), and Rev. Norrie (minister of Westmere). At the conclusion of his speech, Mr. Belton asked Rev. Ross, on behalf of the members of St. Andrew’s Church, to accept an advanced copy of the history of the Waverley district, with the compliments of the Patea County Council, and requested that it should be placed with the church records as it contained some interesting information of St. Andrew’s Church. Items were contributed to the programme by the following: Mesdames Graves and Stewart, recitation; Mr. Linehan, solo; Mrs. Jones (Patea), solo; Mr. Jones (Patea). Rev. Ross then gave a short history of the church, after which a bounteous supper was served in the supper room, and many old friendships were renewed.
