OHAKUNE
CHILDREN’S FANCY DRESS DANCE. The children’s fnacy dress dance held at the Railway Social Hall, Ohakune Junction, on Friday night of last week proved to be a very successful one and resulted in a substantial amount being raised towards the dental clinic building fund, for which purpose the dance was organised. Items were given by the pupils of Miss Lysath, who gave the “King! Kats on Parade,” a song by Margaret Carmine, Highland fling by Daphne Smith and a Russian dance by Miss Lysath’s pupils. Choruses were also sung by the school children under the supervision of Mr. J. H. Hardie. An the items were well received and were accorded well deserved encores. The judging of the costumes was a difficult job, there being ,?.o many fine costumes. Prizes were awarded as follows:—Most original: Zulu, Leonard Wensor; Dental Nurse, Maureen Crawford and Jean Batten, Tuatu Kelly. Best Couple: “Bride and Bridegroom,” Melba Gribben and Newton .Woolhouse. Prettiest Costume. —Joyce Walmsley. Special: Cowboy, baby Ross Clark. A tasty supper was partaken of, the children receiving theirs first with drinks of raspberry cordial to follow and full justice was done.
