HOLIDAYS WITH PAY [ British Official Wirelees.] Received Nov. 7, 7.5 p.m. RUGBY, Nov. 6. Agreement extending to another 5000 workers the principle of holidays with pay which, in recent months, has made considerable progress throughout industry, has been reached between the Engineering Employers' Association and the Iron and Steel Trades Confederation. King as Engine-driver. The King of Bulgaria, who is on a private visit to Great Britain, rode on the footplate of the engine ‘‘Coronation Scot” on a special run, during which he took control. At one point, the train reached a speed of 88 miles an hour. New Airliners Ordered. Imperial Airways has ordered from the De Havilland Company five new Albatross airliners designed and produced in connection with the proposed transatlantic experimental flights. Historic Areas Preserved. Two further areas of natural beauty and historic interest have been saved for the nation and vested in the National Trust. They are the still unprotected part of Glastonbury Tor Slopes and Mortefield, in North Devon. Armistice Celebrations. It is announced that when the Princess Royal takes part in the Festival of Remembrance on Armistice Day she will speak the famous line from Laurence Binyon’s poem, “For the Fallen,” the gathering giving the response “We will remember them.” Honorary Degree for Queen. The Queen is to accept the degree if Doctor of Literature Honoris Causa from the London University next Wednesday. London Omnibus Control. An ingenious system by which the movements of omnibuses on London streets will be recorded at central headquarters, is being experimented with by the London Transport Board. In this way a continuous record of the state of traffic on every route will be available to the controller in the same way as is already achieved for tube trains and tramways.
