KING OF BELGIANS
ENTERTAINMENT IN LONDON STATE AND CIVIC FUNCTIONS [ British Official Wireless.] RUGBY, Nov. 5. The Duke of Gloucester will meet the King of the Belgians on his arrival at Dover and travel with him to Victoria Station, where the King and other members of the Royal Family, and Mr. Neville Chamberlain and members of the Government will welcome him. The two Kings will drive together in a carriage procession to Buckingham Palace. Later King Leopold will visit Queen Mary at Marlborough House. Their Majesties will give a State banquet in King Leopold’s honour at Buckingham Palace in the evening and King Leopold will entertain Their Majesties at dinner at the Belgian Embassy the next evening. Their Majesties will afterwards give a ball at Buckingham Palace. ? There are many other State and civic functions. BONDS OF FRIENDSHIP. BETWEEN BRITAIN AND BELGIUM. Sir John Simon, at the Anglo-Bel-gian Union annual dinner in celebration of the 36th birthday of the King of the Belgians, said the bonds of friendship and mutual understanding which bound Belgium and Britain so closely together were rooted deep in the past. Thep hoped the continued association between the two countries might be an association of comradeship in the work for peace and fcr establishing the widest European understanding. In a fortnight’s time this country was to have the great honour and privilege of a visit from the King <.f the Belgians, who would be greeted, not only as a good king, but as a great, devoted and high-minded man.
