WEATHER FORECAST
Meteorological Office, Wellington, Sunday, Nov. 7, 3 p.m. General Situation. —An anti-cyclone is moving off New Zealand and a rather shallow depression is advancing across the Tasman. Forecast. —Winds: Northerlies to north-westerlies prevailing, moderate to strong generally south of New Plymouth and Napier and reaching gale force in some exposed positions, elsewhere light to moderate but freshening. A change to southerlies advancing over the South, cloudy to overcast and with intermittent rain in western and rough in places about Cook and Foveaux Straits, moderate to rather rough south of Farewell Spit, elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong north-west to westerly winds but a change to southerlies advancing from the south-west; seas moderate in the northern portion and rather rough to rough in the southern. Weather: Fair to fine at first over the North Island and eastern districts of the South, cloudy to overcast and with intermitent rain in western and southern districts of the South Island and these conditions extending northwards over districts with a westerly aspect and later along the east coast of the South Island. A cool change setting m from the South to-morrow. The New Zealand Friends’ School, St. John’s Hill, report for 24 hours ending 6 p.m. yesterday: Bright sunshine, 9 hours 20 minutes. Rainfall, nil. Temperature: Maximum, 70deg. Fahr.; minimum, 47deg. Fahr.
