PROVINCIAL STATUS GOVERNMENT LN FAVOUR. [ Per Press Association. ] WHANGAREI, Nov. 7. The Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon. W. Parry) to-day opened the Whangarei County Council’s new chambers in Rose Street. The old building, in Bank Street, erected in 1902, was recently sold to the Government for an extension of the Post Office accommodation. The Minister paid tribute to the work done by the council, and also indicated that the Government desired to encourage the movement for provincial status for Northland and would do everything in its power to make possible realisation of the i people’s desire.
