PERSONAL. Mrs. E. M. Wotten, of Wellington, arrives this week to pay a visit to Hunterville friends. Miss Eleanor Hammerton, of Patea, Is the guest of Miss J. Graham. Mr. and Mrs. P. Wilson, of Mangaweka, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Lilburn, "Drysdale.” Mrs. T. A. Duncan and Mrs. Eric Duncan, of Hunterville, and Mrs. John Duncan, of Taihape, were visitors to Wanganui this week. VOLUNTEER FIRE BRIGADE. MONTHLY MEETING. A meeting of the Hunterville Volunteer Fire Brigade was held on November 2, Captain R. A. Gordon presiding. Correspondence was read as received and dealt with. Accounts totalling £1 6s 6d were passed for payment. Honorary members’ subscriptions were received from the following: Messrs. R. M. S. Jones, G. B. Gregory, R. E. Shaw, H. Robinson, Savery, and W. Channings, and the brigade extends its thanks. Six weeks’ leave was granted Fireman J. T. Follas. GOLF. m. ream of players of the Ragattra Golf Club intend visiting Marton this week-end to play a match with a team from the Marton Club. BOWLING. A rink of local bowlers visited Bulls on Wednesday for the official openof that town’s club. During the afternoon a match was played against Feilding, Hunterville emerging winners by 23—13. The players who made the trip were W. H. Boswell, A. J. Petrie, F. J. Petherick, and E. W. Donovan. SCHOOL JUBILEE AFFAIRS FINAL MEETING HELD. To wind up affairs in connection with the school jubilee celebrations held recently, the executive committee met last night in Mr. R. M. S. Jones' office. The secretary tabled a balance«heet which revealed that total re—had been £175 and with all payments made a balance of £5B Ils 2d would be available for the erection of some memorial of the occasion. Letters of congratulation from expupils who were visitors to the celebrations were read. It was decided that a photograph of each decade during which Mr. Ironmonger was headmaster be obtained and presented to him. After some discussion Messrs P? P.-
Simpson, R. Dukeson and R. M. S. Jones were elected a committee to go into the costs, etc., or erecting memorial gates at the school, or a sundial, as a suitable and permanent memorial of the jubilee. Before the meeting closed it was decided that the excellent work of Mr and Mrs D. D. Simpson be recorded on the minutes.
