BUTTER SALES
Uniform Wholesale Price GAZETTE NOTIFICATION [ Per Press Association. 1 WELLINGTON, Oct. 28. The Minister of Marketing, Hon. W. Nash, announced this evening that from November 1 there would be a uniform wholesale price chargeable to all retailers for butter throughout New Zealand. The object was. tv bring down Dominion-wide uniform trading conditions in connection with the wholesale distribution of butter. A Gazette notification has been issued advising that an Order-in-Council has been signed extending the existing conditions now operating in the Wellington area. Every grocer or retailer, large or small individual storekeeper, group buyer or chain store organisation will purchase their butter for retailing at one stated price for such grade. The prices are: First-grade creamery butter, Is 21d a lb. Second-grade creamery butter, Is 13d a lb. Whey butter, Is lid a lb. Prevision has been made that where the distributor has to deliver what are called "broken box orders,” he may charge at his option up to 6d per package. The Order-in-Council' also fixes a flat rate of Id per lb. to pay for tnc services of th“ firm or organisation which delivers to the retailer. This Id is included in the prices above mentioned. Also included is an amount to ensure that the dairy factories receive from the sales of butter on the local market the equivalent of the guaranteed price. From November 1 onwards every retailer of butter will be paying Is 21d a lb. for first-grade and the prices mentioned for other grades.
