EXIT GOLDEN WINGS SPRINTER BREAKS LEG PALMERSTON N., Oct. 28. Golden Wings, who was in nis ninth year and who was one of New Zealand’s best sprinters, broke a hind leg last Saturday and his owner, Mr. C. T. Keeble, reluctantly had to give the word for his destruction. Golden Wings was being prepared for exhibition at the Royal Show and he was in great order. Though many people sought him for a hurdler, Mr. Keeble would not let him be put over the fences and he was being used as a hack. Gold fi Wing’s full-sister, Golden Flame, returned from Australia recently, and she has been turned out at Mr. Keeble’s place, Fitzherbert West. She is a very nice filly, but she hit a knee, which filled a bit, and her connections decided to take no risks with her, sending her straight back to New Zealand. FOR V.R.C.
