RACE-BOOK ERRORS
OWNERS RESPONSIBLE One of the annoying features 01 racing, as far as regular patrons are concerned, is the frequent apearancs of errors in race books, as was pointed out in yesterday's issue regarding Le Grand at V iverley. The responsibility for tnese errors rests with the owner of the horse concerned rather than with the racing club, for the onus is on the owner to provide the racing club with all the necessary particulars. When the clerical staff of a racing club is confronted with the task or compiling a race book they should not be compelled to rely on various records such as other race books or even the Turf Register, which simply bristles with errors. For the past three seasons Le Grand has been incorrectly described as being by Posterity from Motley, whereas he is one of Eulogy’s offspring. It's just about time it was corrected.
