Waitotara Hall. A grand football dance is being held in the above hall to-night. Vinson’s Orchestra has been engaged for the music. A good supper is being provided, and patrons are assured of a good all-round evening’s entertainment. Farewell Party. On Tuesday, October 26, a very pleasant afternoon was held at Mrs Seaton’s residence, Routini Street, by the ladies of the Wanganui East Group Scout Committee, to bid farewell to Mrs Laird, who is leaving in November to live in Christchurch. During the afternoon all joined in competitions, Mrs Breed, Mrs Phillips, Mrs Clark and Mrs Burbush being the winners. Mrs Scott, on behalf of the ladies, presented Mrs Laird with an umbrella, all wishing her the best of health in her new home. After a dainty afternoon tea all joined in singing “Auld Lang Syne.” Those present were Mesdames Laird, Seaton, Skilton, Phillips, Bartlett, Kirkland, Burbush, Jones, Drummond, Breed, Clark and Scott.

Mrs J. F. Drake, of Berwick, Otago, the Dominion president of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, who visited Wanganui yesterday, was the guest of the Wanganui branch or the W.D. at a luncheon held at the D.I.C. tearooms yesterday. Mrs S. Scott, president of the Wanganui branch, received the guest of honour and introduced her to the members of the committee. Mrs Drake was presented with a shoulder spray in red, white and blue tonings. Among others present were Mrs A. H. McLean, president of the provincial executive of the W.D.F.U., Mrs Duncan Simpson (Marton), Miss Simpson (Marton), Mrs J. C. Wickham (Dominion vice-president), Miss Polson (Dominion Advisory Board) ana members of the committee. An apology was received from Mrs D. tr. Polson.
