RECRUITING INCREASING LAST MONTH’S FIGURES. I British Official Wireless.] RUGBY, Oct. 11. Army recruiting is still on the increase in Britain. The recent intake for September was: Regular Army, 2243; Territorial Army, 1906; showing increases respectively of 12.4 and 22.5 per cent, over September last year. Recruits for the Regular Army in six months to the end of September numbered 12.131, against 10,663 in the same period last year. BUILDING UP AIR FORCE AN UNPARALLELED TASK. [ British Official Wireless.] RUGBY, Oct. 12. “Foreign policy and defence policy work hand in hand for a similar aim —peace,” declared Lord Swinton, speaking on the expansion of the Air Force. The programme for bringing it up to something three times its previous strength was, he said, a task unparalleled in peace time. He mentioned that recruits were coming from every part of the British Commonwealth to join the Air Force.
