MASQUERADE AS WOMAN
YOUNG MAN’S STORY KEPT FROM “HUSBAND’’ Received Oct. 12, 5.43 p.m. NEW YORK, Oct. 11. A flippant remark by a man from whom he sought work, “Why don’t you go home and powder your nose,’’ was stated in Court to have inspired a ten years’ masquerade as a woman by William Richeson, aged 26, svho was charged with disorderly conduct. The probation officer’s report said that Richeson originally was arraigned in the Women’s Court and his sex was not discovered until he bathed at the women’s prison. The report continued: “Richeson claims he is not abnormal but is merely matching his wits against society. He was unable to find work after leaving school and decided to masquet* ade after the nose powder remark, after which he was employed as a nurse, waitress, laundress and chorus girl. Richeson six years ago married a man with whom he has lived ever since. The husband is still unaware of the deception and has not been informed of it because he is madly in love with his wife and might do something desperate.” Richeson was sentenced to 90 days’ imprisonment.
