CONTEST APPEAL FUND. COMMITTEE MEETS. At a meeting of the Wanganui Garrison Band held on Thursday evening a vote of thanks was passed to Mr. W. J. Robinson, proprietor of the Lonclontowns Department Store upon his forwarding the sum of £l7 10s 3d, the net profits of the mannequin parades held by him on September 21 and 22. The committee were very gratified at the splendid gesture by Mr Robinson, and expressed the hope that this would be the forerunner of other such efforts by businessmen in the city. A donation from the staff of Hodson’s,* Ltd., of £2 4s, to the fund was acknowledged with thanks. Mr. W. J. Gibson Hughes intimated his desire to resign from the position owing to his time being taken by other interests, but was persuaded to continue to act-
