CLOTHING ON FIRE

YOUNG MAN’S PLIGHT SODIUM CHLORATE IN COAT TE PUKE, Oct. 9. A young married man, Mr. I. Watson, of Hastings Street, Te Puke, suffered burns on the back and legs when the clothes he was wearing, apparently impregnated with sodium chlorate from a spray pump he had been using the previous day, caught fire.

Mr. Watson, who is employed on Mr. G. Dixon's farm, No. 2 Road, was walking across to start work, wearing the coat in which he had been working when using the sodium chlorate spray pump, when Mr. Dixon noticed his plight and came to his rescue. Dr. Randall was called, and Mr. Watson was taken to the Tauranga Hospital, where his condition is reported to be satisfactory.
