W.D.F.U.

HLNTERVILLE BRANCH That keen interest is being taken in the work of the Hunterville branch of the W.D.F.U. was shown by the large attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the branch held last week in the Presbyterian schoolroom. Apologies were received from Mrs. A. Dalziel, Cruickshank, ScottMaundrell, Pitcaithly, McDonald and Miss McDonald. Mrs. Lloyd Hammond presided, opening the meeting with a warm welcome to all present. After the "Creed” the minutes were read and adopted. Remits for the forthcoming conference were discussed.

It was decided to hold an afternoon for the sale of work of the Disabled Soldiers’ Association and the Jubilee Blind Institute later on in the year.

The details of a lecture on the emigration question to be held some time in .Inly was left to the executives of the W.D.F.U. and the Farmers’ Union to arrange.

The junior branch appointed Miss Shackleton as delegate to the senior executive committee.

Mrs. Aidworth’s report on the interprovincial meeting held in Dannevirke was most interesting and was received with acclamation.

A dainty afternoon tea was served by Mesdames Hen wood, Cameron, Abel, Roper, and Miss Shackleton, after which Miss Bowick gave a most interesting and instructive demonstration on the making of woodpulp flowers, exhibiting some very fine specimens of the finished articles, including fascinating shoulder sprays. Miss Bowick was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for her help. A roll call brought forward some very appetising suggestions for hot luncheon dishes.

The tea towel competition was wor by Mrs. Graham, with Miss McDonald second and third. At the next meeting the competition will be a baby’s singlet knitted from two-ply wool and to be donated to the provincial. The roll call will be a Limerick on the W.D.F.U.
