’ MANY VISITORS TO WANGANUI 5 SMART FASHIONS In direct contrast to the bleak and gusty weather of the first day of the 1 Wanganui Jockey Club’s winter meet--1 ing, the King’s Birthday dawned • bright and clear, tempting a large crowd of enthusiasts to the second ■ day’s race meeting. Viewed from the grandstand, the I winter ensembles of the wearers, picked out here and there with bright red rust or green hat, a gay-coloured scarf or pretty spray of flowers, were an attractive sight as they walked across the green lawns. Furs were naturally popular and the majority of women favoured shades of blue, or brown and beige tweeds, though hlack, and the new shades of green and rust looked equally smart, all the warm winter colours blending into an effective pattern.
