WEDDINGS
DEIGHTON—DOLGI AS The Anglican Church, Hunterville, was beautifully decorated on June 2 for the wedding of Jean, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. Douglas, Pohonui, Hunterville, to Deryck Valentine, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Deighton, Mangaweka. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Watkins, of Mangaweka. The bride ,who was given away by her father, made a charming picture in her lovely gown of lacquered taffeta made on very fitting lines with long, tight sleeves and flowing tram. Her beautiful veil, lent by her aunt, Mrs. Beard, of Auckland, was caught softly round the face with teal orange blossom. Her bouquet was of freesias, chrysanthemums and carnations. Miss Edith Douglas, only sister of the bride, attended as bridesmaid. Her pretty frock was of floral georgette in pink tonings and with it was worn a pink and silver headband. Her bouquet was of pink shaded roses and freesias. Little Margaret Duncan, who acted as flower girl, was dressed in pink georgette and carried a basket of violets and maidenhair fern. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. Hamilton, of Mangaweka. After the ceremony the reception was held at the Non Pareil Tea Rooms, where Mrs. Douglas received the guests wearing a navy tailored costume with navy velour hat. Her posy of autumn tonings completed her toilet. Mrs. Deighton, mother of the bridegroom, wore a smart black lace frock with hat to tone and carried a scarlet posy. The bride left later for the honeymoon wearing a smart dark green tailored frock under a tailored tweed coat, green velour hat with shoes, gloves and bag to match.
