COUNTY GAMES DEMPSTER TO FORE FINE BATTING “DOUBLE” LONDON, June 4. C. S. Dempster, the former New Zealander, again showed fine form with the bat in the LeicestershireGloucestershire match in the county cricket championship series which was completed to-day. He made 133 and 154 not out, and Armstrong also made a century lor Leicestershire. Hammond contributed a double century to Gloucestershire’s score, and Neale also passed 100. Others who made centuries in the series were Cox (Sussex), Hutton and Leyland (Yorkshire), Arnold (Hampshire), and Watson (Lancashire). Among the most successful bowlers were Nicols (Essex) and Verty (Yorkshire). Sussex consolidated their position with an outright win, and full points were also gained by Yorkshire, Middlesex, Glamorgan and Nottinghamshire. Results are: — Middlesex v. Warwickshire, at Lord’s. —Middlesex 361 (Human 77, Robins 71). Warwickshire 92 (Gray four for 27, Robins four for 31) and, following on, 89 (Smith five for 24). Middlesex won by an innings and 180 runs. Sussex v. Essex, at Hove.—Sussex 213 (Nichols six for 78) and 333 (Cox 110). Essex 92 (J. Cornford five for 39) and 292. Sussex won by 162 runs. Yorkshire v. Worcestershire, at Stourbridge.—Yorkshire 460 (Hutton 101, Leyland 167). Worcestershire 190 (Verity five for 53) and 189 (Verity live for 60). Yorkshire won by an innings and 81 runs. Glamorgan v. Hamphire, at Swansea.—Glamorgan 335 and 172 for four, declared. Hampshire 253 (Arnold 107) and 195 (Mercer live for 66). Glamorgan won by 59 runs. Somerset v. Nottinghamshire, at Taunton. —Somerset 235 (Larwood four for 70, Voce four for 44) and 268 (F. Lee 96). Nottinghamshire 394 (Maxwell 79) and 111 for one. Nottinghamshire won by nine wickets. Gloucestershire Vi Leicestershire, at Gloucester. Leicestershire 351 (Dempster 133) and 299 for three wickets (Dempster 154 not out, Armstrong 119). Gloucestershire 471 (Hammond 217, Neale 121). Gloucestershire won on the first innings. Derbyshire v. Lancashire, at Bur-ton-on-Trent. —Derbyshire 279 (Phillipson five for 62) and 245 (Sibbles live for 78). Lancashire 305 (Watson 107; Copson five for 73) and 106 for two wickets. Lancashire won on the first innings. AUSTRALIAN WOMEN’S TOUR LONDON, June 4.
