WAVERLEY

EGM ON T- WAN GAN UI HU NT. On Wednesday the Egmont-Wanga-nyi pack met at Whenuakura, but tne day was disappointing, there being few runs and little jumping. The hum commenced quite well and after moving over three paddocks to a gully at the back of Mrs. Gower’s homestead the hounds found and were led hack on their tracks to a clump of bush just below the house, where they were successful in overhauling their quarry and a kill was made. Later in the afternoon another hare was raised and a short run from gully lo gullyensued, but the hare escaped and none other was found. Later riders and onlookers adjourned to the Whenuakura Hall, where Mr. J. Sheahan provided afternoon tea. The Master, in thanking the host, expressed gratification in seeing such a stalwart supporter of the hunt once more amongst the followers. Mr. Sheahan has been an energetic member for very many years, but since an illness last year |has been absent from the hunting field, and his bright and cheery presence, his jokes and his peppermints, which he never failed to Land round, have been sadly missed. Mr. Sheahan replied, thanking Mrs. and Miss Hurley for their help in entertaining. and those men who prepared the fences for the hunt. The next meet will be held at Waitotara commencing at Mrs. E. Parsons on Saturday, June 12. The hunt carded for next Saturday (June 5.) has been postponed owing to the Wanganui races being held that day, but it will be held on Tuesday, June 15. ar Moumahaki Cross Roads.
