THE KING’S WISH
TITLE FOR DUKE OF WINDSOR NOT EXTENDED TO HIS WIFE LONDON, May 28. Although the Duke of Windsor by the instrument of abdication expressly excluded himself from the title of “His Royal Highness,” the King by Letters Patent just issued, wishes him still to enjoy the title, which, however, does not extend to his wife or possible children, who, however, will be entitled to the forms of address appropriate to a Duke’s wife and children. The Australian Associated Press agency understands that the decision that Mrs Wallis Warfield shall not become “Her Royal Highness” has obviously been taken only after consultation with the Dominion Ministers, who are not on the same basis as the British Ministers. It is assumed that al Ithe Dominions concurred in the decision. Mrs Warfield will carry a wedding bouquet of English roses presented by a “high personage” in London. They will be sent by special ’plane on the morning of the wedding.
