AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP Received May 30, IS pun. LONDON, May 29. In the English amateur golf championship final Sweeny defeated Munn 3 and 2. In the English amateur golf championships quarter-finals Sweeny beat Wehrle (America), 3 and 2; Munn beat Pennink (holder), 2 up. In the semi-finals Sweeny beat Stowe, 6 and 5; Munn beat Count Bendern, 4 and 3. In the final Sweeny took the lead at the first hole and only lost it at the 23rd, after which he overcame his shakiness and won three holes in succession. Munn, despite his age, made a gallant effort but was beaten by sounder golf. FOURSOMES CHAMPIONS FURRIER AND THOMPSON NEW SOUTH WALES TITLE Received May 30, 7.5 p.m. SYDNEY, May 30. Jim Ferrier and George Thompson won the foursomes championship of New South Wales at the Royal Sydney links with rounds of 71 and 72, which is one under pair and a record for the event. The same pair won the event in 1933 and 1934. They did not compete in the two following years.
