Dr. H. L. Widdowson, medical superintendent at the Wanganui Hospital, accompanied by Mrs. Widdowson, is visiting the South Island.
Sir Donald McGavin, C.M.G., D. 5.0., Wellington, has been appointed a member of the Medical Council under the Medical Practitioners’ Act. (Press Association).
Mr. H. von Haast, Pro-Chancellor of the University of New Zealand, is to confer the degrees at Canterbury University College on Graduation Day, which is to be held on May 7.
Miss M. Wood, M.A., a member of the staff of the Wanganui Girls’ College, has been appointed to the staff of the Palmerston North Girls’ High School as teacher of general subjects.
Mr W. A. Bodkin, M.P., for Central Otago, is to be in Wanganui on Thursday next, May 6, and is to deliver an address under the auspices of the Wanganui branch of the New Zealand National Party.
The Rt. Rev. J. A. Kempthorne, Bishop of Lichfield, England, the see to which Bishop Selwyn went when he left New Zealand, will visit New Zealand in August and September. He will be accompanied by Mrs. Kempthorne.
Squadron-Leader Charlton Hallawell has been appointed Ko the special duty list with the acting rank of Wing-Commander for service as Air Attache in Moscow. He succeeds Wing-Commander Collier. (British Official Wireless).
