WOUNDED IN ARM

LOS ANGELES DISTRICT ATTORNEY SHOT FROM MOTOR-CAR LOS ANGELES, March 8. The District Attorney, Mr. Buron Fitts, was wounded in the left arm by a shot fired by one of four men who forced his motor-car to the kerb in a suburban street. He was unable to recognise any of the occupants of the other car, which was driven rapidly away. He had been conferring with the police chief at Santa Monica regarding the strike in the Douglas Aircraft Corporation works. He said he had received several threatening letters in the past week, due to his activity in obtaining conspiracy indictments against 300 “sit-down” strikers in the Douglas plant. He was taken to hospital, where it was said that his condition was not serious.
