FIRE BRIGADES

CONFERENCE AT NELSON 1 per Press Association. ] NELSON, March 8. Over 350 members of the Dominion Fire Brigades attending the annual conference and biennial demonstrations were welcomed at the Botanic Reserve yesterday. This morning the conference commenced, being attended by 127 delegates, a Dominion record. Superintendent A. Craig (Hamilton) welcomed the delegates and gave a brief address. The executive’s report was adopted, and the conference proceeded to the consideration of the remits. Mr. R. Girling Butcher, Inspector of Fire Brigades, is present. The deliberations will continue tomorrow. A break will take place on Wednesday, and demonstrations will be held on the remaining days of the week.
