CYCLING

WEST COAST TITLES CHAMPIONSHIP EVENTS. NEXT SATURDAY NIGHT. The West Coast cycling championships on Cook’s Gardens next Saturday night have drawn representative entries from all districts of this centre and some splendid racing should be seen. Owing to the number of cycle races to be run, racing will commence promptly at 7.'30 p.m. There will be no delays, as championship events are interspersed with athletic and cycling handicap races and events will follow in rapid succession. Dude Lawrence, of Palmerston North, is riding in better form than ever this season and should be hard to beat, though he will get fully extended by Jack Guilliard and M. Green the Taranaki b‘oy. It is exceptionally hard to select probable winners as there are several other riders beside the above-mentioned who have been showing much improved form. Green, on the unpaced form shown at the last two meetings, looks to be a possible winner of the time trial. The 10-mile human-paced race is the most spectacular event in cycling and patrons who saw this event at the last New Zealand championships at Wanganui are still talking about it. The field is this will be a large one and with well-organised pacing will be worth going a long way to see. The prices of admission are within the reach of all and there is no extra charge for the seating enclosure. There should be a big attendance of the public to see this great cycling programme.
