HOLIDAY ACCIDENTS
MOTOR COLLISION AT AUCKLAND SEVERAL PERSONS INJURED I Per Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 27. One person was admitted to hospital and several others received minor injuries as a result of a collision on the waterfront road at Orakei al. about four o'clock on Saturday afternoon. A passenger in one car, Mrs. L. Derrick, of Ponsonby, suffered head injuries and shock and the driver, Mr. N. Walker, of Kohimarama, Mrs. Walker, their infant son and another passenger, Miss B. Green, all received cuts or shock. The car burst into flames and Mrs. Derrick, who had been thrown forward througn the windscreen, was lifter clear just in time. The driver of a motorbus stopped and put out lhe fire with an extinguisher, but the collision and the flames had damaged the car extensively. All the injured persons were taken to hospital in an ambulance, but with the exception of Mrs. Derrick thej were able to proceed home after recciving medical attention. The four occupants of the other ca were not injured. They were ques tinned by the police and an arrest wa: subsequently made and a man will appear in the Police Court on a charge ot being intoxicated in charge of a car.
