LARGE SALE NEGOTIATE? Negotiations covering one of fhs largest sales of timber areas—some 4000 acres—-was recently completed at. Tokaanu to prominent King Country sawmillers. The estimated cutting is nearly eighty million feet log measurement and the price to the native owners will be in the vicinity of £170,000. The area sold is portion of the 40,000 acres of the finest totara, matai, and rimu limbered area in New Zealand. known as the Tongariro timber blocks and owned exclusively by members of the Tuwharetoa tribe. The total area is estimated to contain over one thousand million feet and the stumpage value has been assessed at. £3,750,000. Mr J. A. Asher, of Tokaanu, repr* sented the native owners.
