WANGANUI BRANC H QUARTERLY MEETING HELD The quarterly meeting of the Returned Soldiers’ Association (Wanganui branch) was held on Thursday night. Mr W. H. Cannan pres det I over a very fair attendance, and gave a short summary of matters that had engaged the committee s alien, ion since the last quarterly meeting. The meeting was then thrown open on the lines of “private members’ day' in Parliament, for any compin’.nts ui suggestions from the "floor of tlx House.” Discussion ranging ovc a wide range of topics ensued, relating mainly to employment and pensions. The secretary appealed for suppod for the art union now being promol' ed to provide funds for lhe annual Christmas tree for lhe children of un employed soldiers, slating that it wa: necessary to avoid encroaching on th* association's ordinary relief funds and that, prospects of raising th* necessary amoun? by this mean, were bright.
