The British Boxing Board of Control refused to recognise the FoordPeterson January contest as a title fight, declaring that Petersen must first meet and beat Tommy Farr, the Welsh heavyweight champion, before he can attempt to recover the lost championship from Ben Foord. Farr is the board's official contender tor Foord's titles.
