A HARVEST CAMP

STATE LABOUR SCHEME UNDERTAKING IN WAIKATO [ Per Press Association. ] WELLINGTON, Nov. 26. Within a week or so the Government will establish a harvesting camp in the Waikato. It will be situated at Morrinsville as the central po.nt from which the State will supply transport for men to and from the farms requiring labour. Camp accommodation will be provided for fifty or sixty men to begin with. In establishing the camp the Government has a dual purpose; lirst, to supply labour for farmers during the haymaking season and, secondly, to give unemployed on demoralising sustenance an opportunity to become rehabilitated into industry. If it proves a success the scheme will be extended to other districts where harvest time falls later.
