PRICES OF ORANGES
QUESTIONS IN N.S.W. PREMIER’S TENSE REPLY Received Nov. 27, 12.15 a.m. SYDNEY, Nov. 26. The Premier was questioned in the Assembly about the reported prohibitive prices of oranges in New Zealand and was asked whether he would try to induce the New Zealand Government to lift the embargo. Mr. Stevens tersely replied: “I am quite sure the problem could be speedily settled if the New Zealand Government had the determination of the potato question and the Australian Government the determination of the citrus question.* Unlortunately the position is the reverse.”
