EMPIRE PROBLEMS

MR. NASH AND MINISTERS MEAT NEGOTIATIONS LONDON, Nov. 24. The Hon. W. Nash (N.Z. Minister of Finance) has been invited to confer with the British members of the Cabinet and Departmental experts on the subject of migration in the next few days. The significance of the discussions is increased owing to the British desire for authoritative opinions from the Dominions concerning the Oversea Settlement Board's report, which is likely to be extensively discussed. Mr Nash, in an interview with the Australian Associated Press, said that he was most interested to learn the British views on migration and also to outline New Zealand’s policy. He is at present concentrating on trade discussions with Mr M. MacDonald, Mr W. Runciman, and Mr W. S. Morrison in an effort to clear the way for a meat agreement between England and New Zealand. “The discussions are most enlightening. I recognise that the Argentine is firmly established in the British market, but I am satisfied with Britain’s desire to give preference to the Dominions, if possible.”
