SEAFIELD CLUB CLOSING OF SEASON. The Seafield Golf Club will hold its closing day on Saturday. Mixed Canadian foursomes over twelve holes will be played on half combined handicaps. Following this the season’s trophies will be presented. In the evening an informal dance will be held at the clubhouse, and visitors are cordially invited to attend. Members are also reminded that the annual meeting will be held in lhe Rendezvous at 8 o’clock to-night. The Annual Report. Following is the annual report to be presented:— In presenting this report lhe executive feel that they have justified the confidence placed in them. Membership.—The present membership stands at 106, which shows that the number has been maintained during the year. Finance.—The balance-sheet shows the club to be in a sound position financially. The income for the year exceeds the expenditure by £79 as against a deficiency of £7 for the previous year. During the year your executive leased the grazing rights to Messrs. Crichton and Rhodes for a term not exceeding three years. Mr. Crichton has co-operated with the committee in many ways and tne thanks of the club are due to him for his efforts. Fairly heavy expenditure has been incurred in the past season under the following headings:—(l) Repairs to the motor mower had to be faced, and this should now be in firstclass order and should not require a great deal of expenditure during the next two seasons. (2) A larger stove with high-pressure hot-water service has been installed in the place of the old one. This has been a big improvement and the committee feel that the expenditure thereon was fully justified. (3) Certain renovations were done in the social room, in addition to which new chairs and tables were purchased, and this has provided better facilities for members. Ladies’ Club.—The thanks of the club are due to the ladies for their loyal co-operation during the year On several days during the season mixed foursomes were played and these proved most enjoyable. Financially the ladies have assisted materially by two donations totalling £32 for the special work in the clubhouse. Inter-club Matches.—As usual a number of most enjoyable games were played with members of other clubs during the season. The following is a list of clubs played: Wanganui, Castlecliff. Bulls, Marton, Waverley and Hawkestone. Tournaments. Your executive, after careful consideration, decided to alter the annual tournament dates to September 17 and 18 and 19, in place of the Labour Day fixture as in the past. Unfortunately this proved to be unsatisfactory as a large number of cur members were unable to obtain leave to take part in the tournament, and also many prospective visitors were deterred by the weather conditions at that time. The executive would like to congratulate R. F. Kitto on winning the chief event at the tournament, and at the same congratulate his brother, A. R. Kitto, on setting a new course record during the season. Following many requests a small tournament was run over Labour week-end in order to cater for members who had been unable to attend the main tournament. Club Championships.-The winners of the club championships for the season are as follows:—Senior, A. R. Kitto; middleweight, D. R. Durie; junior, R. A. Parkes. Course. —During the season the course has been in excellent order. In addition to the normal work a start has been made with bunkering, two bunkers having been put in at the Sth green, and it. is hoped to carry on the work in this direction in the future. No small part of the credit for the condition of the course is due to the untiring efforts of Mr. A. G. Mac Kay, the club ground superintendent, and the committee extend to him the sincere thanks of the club for his work in this direction. Purchase of Property.— Owing to the fact that great improvements were unwise on leasehold property, the executive have been negotiating for a purchase of the property at present leased by the club No finality has as yet been reached, but it is hoped to have a definite reply from the owners in the near future. Caretaker.— During the season i became necessary on the departure ol Mr. Barton to appoint a new caretaker Mr. J. P. Taw was appointed to the position and has already proved himself to be an efficient and working officer. In conclusion th thanks of the club arc due to ah 1 h-p« who have generously donated trophi .. during the season; to the 1 "ss tor newspaper reports, and to all th who have in any way assisted in mak ing the past season so successful. TOUR OF DOMINION AMERICAN GOLFERS SYDNEY, Nov. 25. Advice has been received that the golfers, Walter Hagen and J. H. Kirkwood, will sail from America on January 6 for a tour of New Zealand, where they will spend a forto’Sht, and Australia. HOLED IN ONE HIS SECOND OFFENCE Paul Winslow, of Del Monte. California, was about to play off the seventh tee at the Cypress Point golf course, when his companion said to him: "Winslow, didn't you make a hole in one on this hole a year ago today?" “Yes, I did," replied Winslow. "Show the boys how you did it," said the other. Winslow slammed the ball, and, amid a silence that could be felt, says a British United Press message to the London Evening News, legitimately marked "1” on his card.
