PLAZA THEATRE

“MARRY THE GIRL.’’ Humour of the best kind characterises the British Dominions release "Marry the Girl,” which is screening at the Plaza Theatre with Sonnie Hale and Winfred Shotter in the starring roles. "Marry the Girl” is a screen adaptation of the famous Aldwych farce. Winifred Shotter plays her original stage role, and Sonnie Hale, England’s brilliant comedian, co-stars opposite her in the masculine lead. Hilarity vies with romance in trying to take the credit for the delightful new musical comedy, "The Girl Friend,” which is on the same programme. Ann Sothern sings and dances her way through the film. Jack Haley, one of the merriest comedians of them all, goes through antics that will leave you as limp from laughter as your backbone will permil. And Roger Pryor is the third of the main triumvirate. “Swing Time.” In "Swing Time,” commencing at to-morrow night’s midnight matinee at the Plaza Theatre, Fred Astaire , and Ginger Rogers dance in their de- ' lightfully carefree and effortless manner. A new screen comedy team in Victor Moore and Helen Broderick makes a successful appearance as the friends of the young couple. A wealth of novelty in photography and orchestration is introduced; as well as several fine new dance hits, the most catchy of which are "Ain't Gonna | Dance,” "Swing Time,” and "A Fine Romance." The story presents Astaire as a cheerful gambler, seeking his ’ fortune in Manhattan so he can go back to his home town and marry his ■ childhood sweetheart, and Miss Rogers as a dancing academy instructress who takes Astaire as a pupil.
