TIME OFF FOR “SMOKO"

DRAINAGE BOARD WORKERS DECISION AT CHRISTCHURCH I Per ’’res*’ Association. ] CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 24. The Christchurch Drainage Board to-night agreed to give the men engaged constructing a storm water drain in the city ten minutes off a morning and afternoon for a “smoko” or “snack.” An amendment to the original proposal was that the men be allowed to take ten minutes off in their own time, making it up at the end of the day, but this was rejected after a division. The concession was opposed by several members who suggested that it was unreasonable that men who were allowed to smoke ar, will on the job should ask in addition for time off for a smoko.
