• BANNERETTE MATCH GONVILLE CHALLENGE ST. JOHN'S RETAIN TROPHY I The first Bannerette game of the ■ season was played on the St. John’s I green on Thursday evening, Gonville , Club being the challengers. As usual ; in these junior games there was some 1 fine play. St. John's established a lead of 7 on the first four heads but by the 10th head Gonville were only two behind—--8-10. After the 15th head, when St. ) John’s were leading 15-12, the holders ' drew away, a 3 and a 6 putting them • ahead 24 to 12. ■ Gonville then scored 2-3-1, com- , mencing the final head 6 down. St. John s scored 3 on this head, the game ending 27 to 18 in favour of St. John’s. The teams were:— Gonville.—Hoar, Sharpe, Atkins Cox. St. John’s.—A. W. Brown. Ashworth, F. Mackie, G. Harris.
