AMERICAN DENIAL

LIGHTER-THAN-AIR CRAFT NO ARRANGEMENT WITH GERMANY. NEW YORK, Nov. 6. The Secretary of Commerce, Mr. Daniel Roper, denied that the United States is entering into an arrangement with Germany or any other nation to develop lighter-than-air craft. The statement was made in reply to a protest from the national organisation of Jewish war veterans. It was explained that Dr. Eckener’s talks with the Commerce Department were concerned with the establishment of a permanent route across the Atlantic and that the Department must give a ruling on the fitness of the airships to be used.
