LUXURY LINER’S S.O.S.

SMALL FIRE EXTINGUISHED NAPLES, Oct. 19. Earlier alarming possibilities arising out of the Italian luxury liner Vulcania sending out an S.O.S. because of a fire on board, have been allayed. It was a small affair in the steerage section, and was extinguished. The Vulcania was 40 miles from Naples en route to New York at the time. FOUR LIVES LOST. PALERMO, Oct. 19. It is revealed that the fire aboard the Vulcania involved the loss of four lives. Two stewards were suffocated while fighting the blaze, and a third was asphyxiated when fumes penetrated into a bathroom, and a fourth victim was a musician in the ship's orchestra, who took panic and fell overboard.
