REGENT THEATRE
“DESIGN FOR LIVING” Given Noel Cowaf’d as the piay-1 1 wright, Ernst Lubilsch as the pro- ' ducer and Miriam Hopkins, Gary ' Cooper. Fredric March and Edward > Everett Horton heading the cast, Paramount could hardly tail to make “Design for Living,” the screen version of the scintillating and provoca- ■ tive stage play, a highly entertaining film. The reissue of this picture, commencing to-day at the Regent : Theatre, confirms the impres: ion that it is one of the most delightfully witty ' yet made. The story is a new and piquanj variation of the old theme of the eternal triangle. Two irrepressible : young men, an artist and an autnor, played by Gary Cooper and Fredric ' March, enter into a triple friendship : with a girl (Miriam Hopkins), v.ho : proves herself both tickle and faith- ■ ful, shrewd and ingenuous, beautiful, I • irresistible, yet with spasmodic lean- ' ings toward matrimony with the duil- '■ est of advertising agents in the per- ■ son of Edward Everett Horton. The i sudden retifrn of the two conspirators • from. China when advertising appears ’ to have won the day provides a climax i replete with as pretty a combination i of farce and wit as has been seen on i the screen. “The Last of the Mohicans” “The Last of the Mohicans,” James Fenimore Cooper's immortal tale of ; adventure among Red Indians in American colonial days, has been made into a splendid picture. Randolph Scott heads a strong cast in this new film, which screens on Saturday at the Regent Theatre, and he is excellent as Hawkeye, the handsome and daring colonial scout. BinI nie Barnes plays the feminine lead, • and Henry Wilcoxon, Heather Angel and Phillip Reed and Bruce Cabot i have important parts. The earlier ■ scenes depict the siege of Fort Wil- ■ liam Henry and its surrender to the ’ French commander Montcalm, and from that point the film faithfully follows the book. There is a gripping climax and a happy ending. “MARSHALL” YOUR FORCES Don’t be routed by work and worry, i “Marshall” your forces with Mari shalt’s Fospherine, The nerve tonic That builds strength And imparts vigour.
