PRESBYTERIAN SOCIAL Bowls of ranunculus, s.veet peas and lilac decorated the Presbyterian Hall on Friday afternoon, when the Ladies’ Guild held a social. A vegetable competition was won by Miss I. MacDonald, golf putting by Mrs C. Hunger, and quoits by Mrs J. A. Has- ' well. Recitations were given by Miss Iris MacDonald, and vocal items by Mesdames MacDonald, F. Lund, and Miss O. Adams. Mrs A. D. —T.nter and Miss B. MacDonald acted as accompanists. A delectable afternoon tea was served, after which a stall was well patronised. NOTES There were working bees in every direction on Saturday in Patea, when sports clubs were getting ready for their summer opening. Formation work on the new golf links is forging ahead; the cricket pitch is coming into order, and the tennis lawns are in perfect condition for the opening on Saturday.
