In the interests of national defence the Government has requisitioned the important Sautter Harle armaments factory where a strike has been in progress for over a month owing to the dismissal of two men. The management declined Government arbitration. The Government’s decision is welcomed by the 1600 workers, who have promised to resume work on October 19 under Government engineers. The Employers’ Federation has protested. The factory is engaged turning out equipment for two new cruisers, the Dunkerque and Strasbourg. It is also announced that the Government has decided to nationalise all factories producing equipment for the French Air Force.
