DRIVEN BY FEAR
EUROPE FACES RUIN MIGRATION THE REMEDY GENEVA, Oct. 11. Closing the Assembly of the League, the President, Dr. S. Lamas, Argentine Foreign Minister, declared fear was driving Europe to destruction. Fear could only be removed by continuing the Assembly's good work, stimulating trade and production and improving the standard of living. He urged the resumption of migration. “Before making raw materials travel men must be allowed to travel,” he said. The need for expansion of certain great States was undeniable, but migration, not wars of conquest, was the solution. The Council decided to convene a conference of middle and Far East countries at Bandoeng on February 2 to discuss sociological questions, and authorised the President to arrange a date in 1937 for the reassembly of the D isar mam ent Conference.
