ARAMOHO CENTRE

The October meeting of the Ara- ; moho Centre W.L took the form of “members’ day,” Mrs Jones (presj- ; dent) presiding over the business nart ; of the meeting, after which the chair was taken by Mrs Gould, and the duties of secretary undertaken by Mr? McNeill. Mention was made of the forthcoming visit of Mrs Watt, president of the Associated Women of the world, and rem'ts for the haH-vearly meeting to be held at Fordell this month were discussed. Members were invited to exhibit at this meeting their favouiite niece of work done this -veer. It was decided to send a Christmas number of one of the Now Zceiann annuals to a member at Clare. England. Six members were chosen to form a sub-committee to assist the country oueen in the health camn camnntm’i. and a shon day has been arranged for The proceeds of last Saturday night’s social and the card narty convened bv Mrs Gray for the institute and W.D.F.U.. held this week, will be devoted to the country oueen. Songs were rendered bv Mrs Amies, violin solos by Miss Clark, trios by the Glee Club, and elocutionary numbers by Mrs Buller, all items being enjoyed. The accompaniments were plaved by Mrs Maxey. The competitions were as follows j Flowers (judged by Mrs Murchie) Tumbler of flowers: Mrs Moreland 1, Mrs Smith 2. Ranunculi: Mrs Fear 1, Mrs Bisch 2. Anemones: Mrs Ogier 1. Mrs Moreland 2. Shortbrean (judged by Mrs Gray): Mrs Goodev 1. Mrs Caiman 2. Cotton frock (Eileen Herd, judge): Mrs Smith 1, Miss Sherman 2. The judges were accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Mrs C. E. Anderson was the winner of an amusing competition. Mrs Roy Anderson, Westmere, representing the Children’s Gardening Circle, presented a beautiful dish garden and accessories, and gave an interesting address on this form ot artistic gardening. Mrs Anderson was presented with a posy. The hostesses were Mesdames Burston, Gillies, Shanks, Scott, Shepherd, Spooner, Sanderson, Walton, Rowling, Goodey, Morgan, and Miss Russell.
