NEW MACHINE OPENED PRIME .MINISTER OFFICIATES | Per Press Associat’on| WELLINGTON, Oct. 11. Trent ham’s new all-electric totalisator was officially opened on Saturday afternoon by the Prime Minister, the Hon. M. J. Savage, who in a speech made particular reference to efforts for providing adequate recreational facilities in view of the 40-hour week. The ceremony included three race heats —two-year-olds over half a mile and older horses over live furlongs in two divisions. The totalisator was opened, selling tickets as for actual races, but there was no cash transaction.
