HIGH COMMISSIONER
SIR J. PARR’S RESIGNATION [Per Press Association] WELLINGTON, Aug. 28. Sir James Parr, High Commissioner for New Zealand in London, will be relieved of his position «t his own request on August 31. This was announced by the Prime Minister, Hon. M. J. Savage, in an interview this evening. The Prime Minister said that the new High Commissioner, who arrived in London last week, would take over the office on September 1. One of the first duties Mr Jordan would fulfil would be to attend the meeting of the League of Nations Assembly at Geneva. Mr Savage said that the new High Commissioner would be accompanied by Sir James Parr, who would remain in Geneva until the end of the Assembly. ‘“ln the meantime,” said Mr Savage, “Mr Jordan’s resignation as member for Manukau is in the hands of Mr Speaker and there will be no delay in making the prescribed arrangements for the by-election for the vacant seat in Parliament.”
