COMBINED MOTHERS’ UNION

MRS .TYE FAREWELLED A combined gathering of members of the Mothers’ Union of Christ Church and suburban churches was held in St. Barnabas’ Church Hall, Durie Hill, on Thursday afternoon when there was a large attendance. The function took the form of a social afternoon and opportunity was taken to farewell Mrs. W. Tye, who leaves shortly for Wellington. She was presented with a bouquet of primroses and a gift as a token of esteem. Competitions were enjoyed, also tire , items on the programme which ineluded elocutionary items by Miss Phyllis Taylor, songs by Mrs. Perrett, and violin solos played by Miss Doris S. Hughes. The hall was decorated with spring blossoms and bulbs and the hostesses dispensed a bountiful afternoon tea.
